This group is facilitated by staff member Lisa Ridenour, MPH, who is a mother of three children, one who lives with autism spectrum disorder. She received her master’s degree in public health from the Zilber School of Public Health with a focus on community and behavioral health promotion and is a staunch advocate in the community for those with special needs. Lisa is a long-time volunteer with Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin and has recently joined the team as Program Manager.

The Autism Society is offering two different four-session recreational programs for teens ages 13-18 with Autism, facilitated by Cindy Macwan, Special Education Teacher at Grafton High School and Cassie Kraemer, a paraprofessional studying education.
Some counties will allow the waiver to cover this program cost.

She serves as a Family Navigator and co-chair at The Next Step Clinic in Milwaukee. She is also a co-chair for the Milwaukee Coalition for Children’s Mental Health (CCMH), and current LEND Trainee.

The A-Team Fun Walk for Autism will be held in person and we are anticipating thousands of walkers, runners, and volunteers to participate in promoting autism awareness, raise funds for research, fund programs for our community, and support the mission of the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin.
The 1.35 mile walk in Greenfield Park is the perfect activity for runners and walkers, individuals, families, and teams! New this year, a professionally timed 5K!
Participants and volunteers receive free breakfast as well as admission to the various activities planned throughout the event.

This group is facilitated by staff member Lisa Ridenour, MPH, who is a mother of three children, one who lives with autism spectrum disorder. She received her master’s degree in public health from the Zilber School of Public Health with a focus on community and behavioral health promotion and is a staunch advocate in the community for those with special needs. Lisa is a long-time volunteer with Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin and has recently joined the team as Program Manager.

She serves as a Family Navigator and co-chair at The Next Step Clinic in Milwaukee. She is also a co-chair for the Milwaukee Coalition for Children’s Mental Health (CCMH), and current LEND Trainee.

Sensory Friendly Sundays at the Germantown Community Library provide a judgement free zone for families to be themselves and feel support… and not worry if your kid can not be quiet or sit still. It is wonderful to be surrounded by others who understand.

Time: Daily 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Theme: Let it Snow, Winter Wonderland
We will sing, dance, act, paint, and do so much at the VIRTUAL SuperStars Winter Camp.
Virtual SuperStars Campers will receive a box filled with fun materials that will be used during their one-week camp, facilitated live through Zoom.
Space is limited to ten participants per camp, ages eight and up. The Teachers are certified in Autism, arts, education.
Young people with other special needs and typically developing peers or siblings are also welcome! COST: $100 per person, per camp. Payment due by December 18, 2022.

Adults on the spectrum able to self-regulate/independently participate in activities without the assistance of a caretaker are welcome to attend. This group is ideal for those looking to meet people, practice social skills, and make connections with others in the adult autism community. While not intended to be therapy, this group is a safe space for adults to engage and make connections.
Because this group is virtual, there is limited capacity and pre-registration is required. After invited to register, please do so even if put on the waitlist as ASSEW will contact you to join upcoming meetings as spots open up within the group.

Zach Bella is a Ph.D. student in the school psychology program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has extensive research and clinical experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum. Zach is passionate about being active in supporting the Greater Milwaukee community.
